America’s Longest Running German Fest is ready to get the party started this weekend!

Schützenfest Cincinnati is happening this Friday Jul 20 from 6 p.m. – 12 a.m., Saturday Jul 21 from 4 p.m. – 12 a.m. and Sunday Jul 22 from 1-9 p.m. at the Kolping Society (10235 Mill Rd. Cincinnati).

Schützenfest, translated as the Marksmen’s Fest, is a traditional German festival dating back to medieval times.  It celebrates a marksman saving a young child’s life from an eagle attack. Schützenfest was brought to Cincinnati in 1866 by German immigrants.

The tradition continues each year with the shooting of a hand-carved eagle.  The winning marksman is crowned “Schützenkönig”, or Shooting King, for the year.

Come enjoy authentic German food, beer and wine! Live entertainment will also be available throughout the festival.

Admission is $3 per person but those 15 and younger are FREE! For more information, visit http://www.schuetzenfestcincy.com.

Schützenfest benefits the Cincinnati Kolping Society and its many philanthropic efforts.  Come celebrate and enjoy the Gemütlichkeit!
